More Good Days - Love

Episode 10

Simply, I think we need more love in the world. So, in this episode I decided to explore love. Two questions you can ask yourself are “What do I love”?” and “Who do I love?” Both those questions raise particular issues, but the answers to them will shed a light on your personal experience of love and loving.

I read a little from Mary Oliver’s poem, “On the Beach”, a Raymond Carver one, “Last Fragment”, and a little from Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “Sonnets from the Portuguese”.

I also quote both the Buddhist monk, Thich Naht Hahn and the Irish poet, John O’Donohue.

I refer to a previous episode of this podcast where I explained how we use our two, different, cerebral hemispheres.

In Two Minds

In Two Minds

In this episode I describe Dr Iain McGilchrist’s excellent research into why our brains are divided into two halves.

I also made a Spotify playlist of favourite songs about love, and I got carried away, so instead of the usual 30 minute playlist, this one is about an hour’s worth. Anyway, these are songs I love and maybe you will do. But, whatever you think of them, I hope you use this as an inspiration to create your own playlist of songs about love.

I start and finish the playlist with versions of Peter Gabriel’s “Love Can Heal” and there is a superb animated video of his song on youtube. Here’s the link -
